PROPERTY DETAILS

THE SPACE

Deceptively spacious, Haldon View will easily accommodate a large group for a relaxing break. Sleeping eight people in four light and airy bedrooms, this unique 200-year-old cottage mixes fabulous period features with bang-up-to-date mod cons. The fully equipped kitchen will make entertaining a dream. Gather everyone around the large farmhouse table in the dining room for a feast, supplemented with Devon delicacies from nearby Shutes Farm and seafood from the River Teign. Afterwards, the clan can relax in front of the wood burning stove with a movie on the comfy living room sofa. In the summer months, children will love romping in the large garden while you relax in the hot tub with a glass of wine from the Old Walls Vineyard, just a short walk around the corner.

Four individually designed bedrooms will ensure a glorious night’s sleep – leave the window open to hear the owls calling to one another or hedgehogs rustling over the lawn. Open the patio doors from the upstairs king bedroom (which has an en suite shower room) and enjoy your morning coffee al fresco. Also, upstairs, there are three more charming bedrooms, one king, one double and one with bunk beds, enjoy sweeping countryside views and share a spacious family bathroom with shower that all share a beautiful family shower bathroom.

INTERACTION

Fresh Escapes are a professional holiday letting and management company with years of experience marketing, managing and even owning holiday homes in and around Devon. We're proud of our family roots and aim to provide this same family feel to all our guests. We know that many of our guests come on holiday to escape the world, and so we won't disturb you too much during your stay. We'll check in with you after you've arrived, and we'll be on hand if you need anything during your visit, but the house is yours to enjoy and we hope you'll love it as much as we do.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

We just ask you not to invite friends over to the cottage and not to have late parties in the garden or hot tub.

GETTING AROUND

There are two parking spaces directly in front of the property and more parking is available nearby. There is a bus stop at the bottom of the village. The bus can take you to Exeter via all of the coastal villages, to Torbay or to Newton Abbot market town.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

Bishopsteignton is probably the only village in the world which boasts its own wine (Old Walls Vineyard and Winery), beer (Red Rock Brewery), strawberries (Shute Farm) and mussels (River Teign)! Old Walls Vineyard offers light lunches, evening meals and wine tours as well as its own tipple, and you can taste Red Rock at the microbrewery’s own bar. Pick your own strawberries and more at Shute Fruit and eat fresher-than-fresh seafood at any of the wonderful local pubs and restaurants. Try The Ring Of Bells, about half a mile from the cottage towards the village, and The Cockhaven Arms.

Teignmouth is great for families, with its Victorian pier, lido, play park, crazy golf, skate park and beaches. The beautiful, trendy art quarter is well worth a visit and is a treasure trove of independent shops, galleries, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Head to the charming Teignmouth Back Beach, located on the estuary side of the town, for spectacular views looking towards Dartmoor, particularly at sunrise and sunset. From here, take the small ferry across to Teignmouth’s hidden gem – Shaldon Beach. Refuel at the stunning Ness pub, which used to be the summer villa of the Clifford family, who built the famous smugglers tunnel to the beach.

Stunning sea views, beach barbecues and live music can be found at the Ship Inn on Queen Street, and foodies mustn’t miss the locally sourced and sustainably caught catch of the day at the Crab Shack on the Beach.

To the north-east is Dawlish, famous for its golden sands and black swans. Enjoy paddling in the sea before exploring the town’s selection of charming cafes and local shops. Walk along the South West Coast Path and come to Dawlish Warren nature reserve. Hire bikes here to continue adventuring along the coast.

If a day at the beach isn’t your style, the English Riviera boasts endless activities such as Shaldon Zoo, Haldon Forest, Powderham Castle, Paignton Zoo, the Dartmouth Steam Railway, the picturesque fishing harbour of Brixham and the rugged Dartmoor National Park.
