PROPERTY DETAILS

THE SPACE

Whether you are waking up to blue skies and the sound of the sea or relaxing on the sumptuous L-shaped sofa for cosy evenings in, every moment of the day at Lawsons Place will be one to treasure. A simple elegance runs through the space. Relax in the calming sage double bedroom, and sleep soundly in the warm and rustic zip-and-link second bedroom (which can be set up as a super king-size or a twin ie two singles). Wash away the cobwebs in the stylish monochrome family bathroom with a bath with shower and complimentary products. Tuck into buttery pastries in the spacious open-plan kitchen/dining/living area before heading out to explore the array of local beaches. Just remember to pack your swimsuits!

GUEST ACCESS

Fresh Escapes will provide access details to the property exactly 48 hours before your check-in time. Lawsons Place is for your exclusive use. Access to the property is shared with residents and guests from other properties. The apartment is up one flight of stairs on the first floor.

INTERACTION

This property is professionally managed by Fresh Escapes, a local, family-owned business with years of experience in the holiday rental market. We pride ourselves on being on-hand if you need anything during your visit, but will leave you in peace to enjoy your stay with us.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

Lawsons Place is named after the owner's son, Lawson, and is a real investment of time and love by a local couple who want to share this beautiful part of the world with those looking to enjoy it. We welcome families, couples and anyone looking to explore the area. Sadly due to regulations within the building we're not able to accept pets.

The apartment is located on the first floor and accessed via a communal hallway; whilst we're a single-level property when you're inside, there is no lift to the first floor and so this may not be suitable for those with limited mobility.

The communal areas and landing must not be used for sitting outside or sunbathing as they are communal areas used by all residents for access.

GETTING AROUND

There is one designated on-site parking space. Parking is free all day on Bedford Road at the front of the property. Devon’s English Riviera is ripe for exploring. Take a bracing walk along Babbacombe Downs, the highest cliff-top promenade in England, enjoy the spectacular coastline of South Devon and spot seabirds, seals and even dolphins from on high. A trip on the historic Babbacombe Cliff Railway takes you to Oddicombe Beach, while a host of pretty coastal and woodland walks offer spectacular views and a treasure trove of hidden coves and tranquil settings. You can also walk all the way along the legendary South West Coast Path to Torquay or even on to Paignton and the fishing port of Brixham.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

If you’re looking for a laid-back, tranquil holiday without the hassle of fighting through the crowds to get to the beach, Babbacombe is a great alternative to its more lively neighbour, Torquay. Secluded and with picturesque views and warm weather all year round, it’s the ideal location to enjoy the best of South Devon.

Babbacombe, Oddicombe and Petitor Downs are a series of interconnected, attractive little bays full of their own little charm and just a 12-minute walk or a three-minute drive away. Children will love the cliff railway as a fun and exciting way to get down to Oddicombe beach, which is perfect for paddlers. Babbacombe Bay offers swimming, windsurfing and scuba diving and a simply delightful small pier and genteel seafront.

Babbacombe is also well known for its model village, which covers an incredible 4 acres populated with tiny people, 400 models and over 1,000 feet of model railway track. It’s a delightful day out for kids of all ages. And if you fancy watching a star-studded show visit the Babbacombe Theatre, which has crowd-pleasing productions throughout the year. Kents Cavern caves show off the area’s prehistoric past, while Bygones museum offers a life-size authentically created Victorian street.
There are plenty of places to refuel after all that exploring. For fabulous sea views from Babbacombe Downs, great pub grub and space for children to play, head to the Divers Arms, and for delicious sunday roasts, try Hamiltons. For exceptional toasties, head to Margo’s Cafe and Lounge while Angels Tea Rooms serves excellent breakfasts and afternoon teas. For a lunch right on the water, try Three Degrees West on Oddicombe beach.

About TORQUAY

The quintessential bucket-and-spade resort seaside town of Torquay on Devon’s English Riviera coast is vibrant, cheerful and family friendly. Although it has suffered from a ‘resort town’ reputation in the past, a recent revival has made it a hot spot for seaside escapes. Today, Torquay is a stylish resort with a real continental atmosphere. It knows how to cater for everyone’s tastes. For watersports, fishing and sailing, Torquay has a fabulous choice of beaches, while the evenings provide fine dining, theatre, cinema and star-studded shows for all the family.

Where to eat and drink
Rockfish

Priding itself on its sustainability and overlooking the inner harbour, Rockfish on 20 Victoria Parade offers alternatives to a classic fish and chip supper (which it also serves).

Where to walk
Kents Cavern

Try the pleasant circular amble from Kents Cavern in Torquay through woodland to Meadfoot Beach, where you can enjoy some superb coastal views. After another stretch of woods you join the coastal path to spectacular Anstey's Cove, before a short walk back to Torquay.

What to do
Greenway

Take the picturesque steam train to Kingswear and jump aboard a riverboat up the Dart to visit Agatha Christie’s magnificent riverside residence at Greenway, run by the National Trust.
