PROPERTY DETAILS

THE SPACE

Five light and airy bedrooms comfortably sleeping upto 8 adults and 2 children, making Romany the perfect base for a family gathering or group getaway. If you can bear to break out of your Romany bubble, the English Riviera awaits, offering an array of golden sandy beaches, a wave park, Paignton Zoo, stunning coastal walks and eateries.

Romany is three floors of pure comfort and relaxation. Down on the ground floor, there’s plenty to keep you grounded! From the moment you enter the spacious foyer and hall, you’ll feel this is somewhere you can leave your worries behind at the door. Kick off your shoes and turn right into the spacious family living area, designed with entertainment and chilling in mind. Soft sofas, plump cushions and a calming decor invite you to rest and recuperate, while children can amuse themselves with an array of games. In warmer months, embrace indoor-outdoor living, folding back the doors to reveal both dining and lounge areas on the patio. A fully equipped kitchen-diner provides ample space for hearty family breakfasts, light lunches and atmospheric candle-lit suppers. There are even more places to kick back and relax on the left side of the hall – a cosy sitting room and living space offer separate zones to curl up with a movie or get stuck into a book.

Up the stairs to the second floor and four beautiful bedrooms await, decorated in soothing coastal hues of seaglass-green, ocean-blue, shell-pink and driftwood-white. The superking, king and double bedrooms all have gorgeous en suite bathrooms, while the sweet little bunk room (children use only) uses the family bathroom across the landing. On the third floor, there’s a further snug room with a double futon sofa bed with a shower room en suite. The perfect spot for youngsters to hang out without the grown-ups.

Outside, there’s table tennis, if you’re feeling energetic, and a wide expanse of lawn for children to play safely.

GETTING AROUND

There is parking for three to four cars on the driveway. Paignton Railway Station, connecting you to Exeter, Dawlish, and Teighnmouth via the Riviera Line, is a 15-minute walk away. Catch the bus from the stop at the top of the road to Brixham, Kingswear and into Paignton.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

If you want to explore a bit further than the garden, pop down to Broadsands – an idyllic sand-and-stone beach. Explore the rock pools at low tide or play a spot of football or cricket on the parkland directly behind the beach. The long promenade provides a level walk to both ends of the beach and has brightly coloured beach huts available to hire for the day. Its location makes it an ideal starting point for scenic coastal walks.

You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to food. Try the Waterside Inn or the Harvester at Goodrington, Churston Court Hotel and the Manor Inn Galmpton. Down on the beach, visit K’ohana and Venus Cafe. In Paignton, head to TJ’s for fish and chips and La Scala for traditional Italian fare. Further afield in Brixham, there’s Rockfish, Berry Head Hotel and Casa Nostra.

Paignton itself is one of the brightest jewels in the English Riviera’s crown. The seafront and town centre shops are all nearby, making it an ideal Devon holiday resort for that relaxing break away. It’s family friendly, too. Paignton Zoo and Splashdown Quaywest offer exciting days out for all ages. Visit the popular seaside towns of Brixham and Torquay, which are a short bus ride away. And the wild, open moorlands of Dartmoor are easy to get to by car. Like the rest of the English Riviera, Paignton benefits from a mild climate and sub-tropical palm trees, giving that real continental, holiday feel and, when we are blessed with good weather, you could be anywhere in the world. But, like all our coastal towns, they showcase their own beauty in the winter months too, so whatever time of year you choose to visit, you’re sure to have an enjoyable stay.
